What do I need to bring with me?
Roleplaying is definitely a hobby that can grow to consume as much of your budget as you’ll allow it, but realistically the startup costs to begin playing are actually pretty minimal. Below is a typical list of what most of us will bring to play each week:

  • Character Sheets – the D&D Character Builder is your best friend
  • Players Handbook – a handy reference, and really, the only rule book you’ll ever need!
  • Polyhedral Dice – a standard set of sizes, in the color and design of your preference
  • Mini – something to represent your character on the map and during combat

Is there anything that I need to keep in mind when creating my first character for LFR?
For a complete summary of the specifics associated with creating a character for the Realms, you’ll want to take a look at the Living Forgotten Realms Character Creation Guide.

You can also set an option for Campaign Setting in the D&D Character Builder that will limit your selections to only those valid within the RPGA Living Forgotten Realms rule set, which is probably the easiest way to make sure that you don’t miss anything!

Do I need to sign up in advance to play?
We strongly recommend that you take a moment to sign up via Warhorn if you are planning to attend, as this is where we manage our upcoming schedule and know how many players to expect. You’re welcome to try to just show up without registering, however when more players are present than seats are available, priority goes first to anyone signed up via Warhorn, then anyone who signed up, but was waitlisted, and then lastly any standbys who didn’t sign up in advance.

Does it cost anything to play?
Nope! Playing is absolutely free of charge, although if you want to pick-up a new book or buy a snack every now and then to help support the store for allowing us to play there, we know that they most certainly appreciate it.

What should I expect when I get there?
When you arrive at the store, you’ll see a doorway in the back leading into another room filled with tables for playing card games and tabletop games like ours. We’re normally spread out across two or three tables in this area, closest to the entrance to the room.

LFR adventures are designed to run about 4 hours long with a short break in the middle, so please plan to arrive a little early and be ready to play at 6:00pm to ensure that the game runs on-time.

A couple of other quick points to keep in mind…

  • Anthem is a family store and people of all ages, including children, may be present, so please watch your language.
  • During busy nights, the room where we play can get very noisy, but please use indoor voices as much as possible to avoid contributing to the problem!
  • Anthem is kind enough to let us play at their store free of charge, so please show them the same courtesy by cleaning up after yourselves and leaving the area neat and organized after your game is completed.
  • Kindly remember that Anthem is first and foremost a business, and thus store books should not be used as a public library. Please utilize your own books for any necessary in-game references.
